Ranked choice voting (RCV) allows voters to rank the candidates in order of preference. If your first choice candidate doesn't get a majority of the vote, your second and third choices are counted for the remaining candidates. This forces candidates to campaign for all voters' support and assures that winners are always elected with majority support.
When Mainers go to the polls on November 8, we will be using ranked choice voting to vote in the U.S. House race, but NOT for Governor, State Senate, or State House. You can help make sure everyone hears about this before heading to the polls.
Join RepresentUs and the League of Women Voters of Maine to text Maine voters about using RCV in the upcoming November election. We'll kick off with a training session on Zoom to learn how to send texts using our online service called Spoke. You'll get support from experienced texters and be able to get answers on any questions that come up.
Here's everything you need to know to join:
When: 5:30pm ET on Wednesday, October 19
Where: Right from your computer!
